What I wish I knew before I started golfing
I have been playing golf for the majority of my life and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. Looking back through the highs and lows, I am so thankful and blessed of my journey in golf. After 14 years of playing competitive golf, 4 years of collegiate golf and 2 ½ years of professional golf here are a few things I wish I knew before I started golfing:
Golf is an extremely difficult sport
Regardless of what anyone says, golf is hard. In essence we are trying to hit a tiny ball some 400 yards away into a 4 inch hole while swinging 100 miles per hour with a stick in hand.
Golf is addicting
I think almost everyone in the game understands just how addicting golf can be. We all live to hit that one perfect shot. It doesn’t matter if we were missing greens or fairways all day but that one perfect solid swing can give us the energy and motivation for weeks!
Finding the right Golf Instructor early on in your journey is crucial
The Instructor who typically approaches you and makes flashy promises may not be in your best interest. It’s important to do your research, this will pay dividends in the long run. The best instructors are always honest and fourth right. They truly understand that laying a good foundation. Educating you about the golf swing and your swing is most crucial. Whether you are just starting out or have been playing for a few years, remember to always have fun. Enjoy your journey!
